The Czech-born J. V. H. Voříšek spent most of his life in Vienna, where he rose to the position of organist at the imperial court and his work was followed by leading Romantic composers. The term "impromptu", later closely associated with the names of Franz Schubert and Fryderyk Chopin, was first heard in connection with his piano works. The concert will feature Voříšek's only symphony together with Chopin's piano concerto. The new winner of the second edition of the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments will perform with the Collegium 1704. The name of the soloist and which of the Chopin concertos will be performed will be announced on 16 October 2023.
