Vocal Fireworks

The Baroque era was the golden age of vocal virtuosity, when the cult surrounding famous castrati bordered on deification. Today, this extraordinarily demanding repertoire is performed by countertenors (both alto and soprano), and one of the brightest stars in this specialised field is undoubtedly the Israeli singer Maayan Licht. He captivates audiences around the world with his energy and dazzling artistry, and Czech listeners have had the opportunity to experience his talent in opera productions at the National Theatre in Brno including Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with Collegium 1704 and Here I am, Orlando by the composer Ľubica Čekovská, both directed by Jiří Heřman.
