Stabat Mater | Krakow
Misteria Paschalia - Krakow
The music of Holy Week, as conceived by composers from various European regions since the Middle Ages, represents an extraordinarily diverse and profound treasure. Until 1727, the Stabat Mater sequence was also part of the Easter Triduum liturgy, and in Italy in particular, there is perhaps no significant composer who did not set the Stabat Mater text to music. One of the most sophisticated works of this kind was penned by Antonio Caldara.
