Passions of the Heart and Soul
The Italian alto Margherita Maria Sala, winner of the prestigious 2020 Cesti Singing Competition in Innsbruck, is one of the young generation’s extraordinary revelations, and she has quickly gained renown for her darkly coloured voice and her high degree of musicality. The programme Passion of the Heart and Soul is full of the contrasts and great emotions that are especially abundant in the works of such Italian composers of the 18th century as Galuppi, Marcello, Ristori, the young Handel naturalised in Italy, and Vivaldi, of course. All of them composed exciting, exceptionally technically and vocally expressive music, brilliantly portraying the passions of the human soul and heart.
