Brockes-Passion – CANCELLED
Performing the Passion was an integral part of the Easter week liturgy in Protestant Europe. The most famous works of the Passion repertoire that have survived to this day are St John Passion and St Matthew Passion by J. S. Bach. Telemann’s Passion, based on the libretto by the Hamburg poet Heinrich Brockes which was immensely popular in its day, exemplifies the extraordinary richness and variety of this part of German Protestant music.
