Messiah

One would search in vain for a work in the oratorio repertoire of fame equal to that of Handel’s Messiah. Written in just 24 days, it was already extraordinarily popular in Handel’s day
and became one of the cornerstones of the English oratorio tradition. The most famous work of its creator, it thrills us to this day with its melodic inventiveness, vocal virtuosity, and exceptionally effective handling of biblical texts.
