Magnificat
Bach’s setting of the Marian hymn Magnificat is one of few works by the Leipzig cantor that are based on Latin texts and thus blur the boundaries between Lutheran and Catholic liturgical music. Zelenka composed most of his works for the Catholic court church in Dresden and his last setting of the mass ordinary is one of his finest creations.
