About the recording
The main protagonists of this album—Luigi Cherubini (1760–1842) and Karol Kurpiński (1785–1857)—belonged to two different generations of composers, were brought up and worked in completely different environments, but at the same time, as artists, had much in common. They were both avid composers of operas, but were also at home in sacred music. They both devoted a great deal of energy to pedagogic work. They both became prominent figures in musical life: Cherubini, Italian born and educated, conquered Paris, while Kurpiński, a native of the Greater Poland region, did the same in Warsaw.
