The first complete Czech recording!
The first complete Czech recording of Handel’s oratorio Messiah, one of the most iconic compositions in the Christmas repertoire, has been recorded by Collegium 1704 and Collegium Vocale 1704 with international soloists: Giulia Semenzato, Benno Schachtner, Krystian Adam, and Krešimir Stražanac. The recording was made during the fourth production of Messiah as part of Collegium 1704 Season 2017/18 at the Rudolfinum.

Independently composed parts of the mass ordinary from 1724-1725, connected not only by unified musical expression and instrumentation but also by their dramatic nature and emotions of grief and passion, have been combined by Václav Luks, artistic director and conductor of Collegium 1704, into an imaginary mass entitled Missa 1724.

J. Mysliveček: Violin Concertos
Unique recording with the soloist Leila Schayegh!
Mysliveček’s talent for composing violin concertos consisted mainly in his ability to write virtuoso passages that are not “empty”, as was often the case with less talented composers. Mysliveček deals with solo passages in a much more interesting way and the listener cannot help but marvel at his seemingly inexhaustible invention. His music never lacks wit and he is always able to surprise and delight the listener’s ear.

Jean-Baptiste Lully composed the famous Te Deum for the occasion of the baptism of his eldest son, and it was subsequently performed on many official occasions, such as marriages in the French royal family and victories in battles. Biber’s Missa Salisburgensis was commissioned by the powerful Archbishop of Salzburg to celebrate the 1001st anniversary of the founding of the archbishopric. This DVD connects two monumental laudatory works associated with important events of their time.
